A gambler down on his luck offers a family heirloom for a pittance–a crystal dagger. You’re not sure what it’s worth, but surely its worth more than the bit of silver he needs to settle his debt. Then the scholar at the next table tells you of the old standing stones out in the woods that have the same markings as the dagger and it’s fancy sheathe. Of course there’s nothing to do but go check it out!
This game uses the 2019 Legacy Edition of The Fantasy Trip designed by Steve Jackson and originally printed by Metagaming Concepts from 1977 to 1983. The game, which has a strategic/tactical element is quick and easy to learn. A typical character sheet can fit on a 3″ x 5″ index card and the combat system utilizes 3 six-sided dice combined with the elegance of the bell-curve which makes it a refreshing change from other modern FRPG systems. Rules are taught, pre-generated characters tuned to the adventure are available and everything you need is provided. This event will use 3D terrain and miniatures for combat encounters so it has a tendency to appeal to war gamers and board gamers as well. All players will be entered into a drawing. On Sunday, the winner of the drawing will receive a copy of The Fantasy Trip: Melee, and The Fantasy Trip: Wizard.
